BACKGROUND
The regional Strategy for SRHR was adopted by SADC Ministers of Health in 2018 and serves as a collective framework to harmonize regional efforts towards its vision: Ensuring that all people in the region enjoy a healthy sexual and reproductive life; have sustainable access and coverage of quality SRHR services, information and education; and are fully able to realize and exercise their SRH rights. The Strategy is aligned with the African Union’s Maputo Protocol and the Maputo Plan of Action and is in synergy with the Programme of Action of the International Conference on Population and Development (ICPD) and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), and the 2016 High-Level Political Declaration on HIV/AIDS.
