SADC to convene the 8th annual Industrialisation Week in Antananarivo, Madagascar

The Secretariat of the Southern African Development Community (SADC), in collaboration with the Government of the Republic of Madagascar, the Syndicat des Industries Madagascar (SIM), and the SADC Business Council, is proud to announce the 8th Annual SADC Industrialisation Week (SIW). This event will take place from 28 July to 1 August 2025 at the Novotel Convention and Spa in Antananarivo, Madagascar, under the theme: "Advancing Industrialisation, Agricultural Transformation, and Energy Transition for a Resilient SADC."

The SADC Industrialisation Week (SIW) is the largest public-private platform and consultative body for industrialisation in the SADC region. It provides a forum for Member States, private sector leaders, international partners, policymakers, researchers, SMEs, financial institutions, and civil society to exchange insights, collaborate, and accelerate regional economic transformation.

The week-long event will feature seminars, meetings, workshops, exhibitions, and site visits to manufacturing facilities. Key focus areas include mineral beneficiation, agro-processing, pharmaceuticals, energy transition, circular economy, Small and Medium Enterprises, infrastructure development, women and youth entrepreneurship, the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA), and more.

The 2025 SADC Industrialisation Week aims to increase awareness among governments, private sector, academia, research institutions, and the public regarding the SADC Industrialisation Strategy and Roadmap (SISR) 2015-2063; encourage action from regional, continental, and international stakeholders towards implementing the SISR; build strategic coalitions among stakeholders to strengthen the development of regional value chains (RVCs) in pharmaceuticals, mineral beneficiation, and agro-processing; enhance engagement in industrialisation efforts at both national and regional levels; develop concrete action plans, kick-starting private-sector-led projects and working groups; and identify industrialisation projects that can be implemented jointly by the public and private sectors within SADC Member States.

Following successful SIWs held in Eswatini, Democratic Republic of Congo, Malawi, United Republic of Tanzania, Namibia, South Africa, and Zimbabwe, the 2025 edition promises to build on past achievements, fostering innovation and deeper collaboration across priority sectors.
