SADC TO HOLD THE MEETING OF THE COMMITTEE OF MINISTERS OF JUSTICE/ ATTORNEYS GENERAL

On 28-29 July 2022, the Southern African Development Community (SADC) will hold the Meeting of the Committee of Ministers of Justice/ Attorneys General at Crossroads Hotel in Lilongwe, Republic of Malawi.

The purpose of the meeting is for the Committee of Ministers of Justice/ Attorneys General to, among others, consider some legal Instruments which require legal review, guidance and legal clearance by the Ministers to ensure that SADC continues to operate in line with appropriate national, regional and international legal frameworks.

Some of the legal instruments to be reviewed are the Draft Memorandum of Agreement amongst the SADC Member States for the Establishment of the SADC Humanitarian and Emergency Operations Centre and Draft Protocol Against Trafficking in Persons. The meeting will also consider other legal strategic issues.

The Meeting of the Committee of SADC Ministers of Justice/ Attorneys General will be preceded by the Meetings of SADC Senior Officials for Justice/Attorney General on the 26 to 27 July 2022 who will be preparing documents for the Ministers’ meeting.
