Extraordinary meeting of the SADC Council Ministers

The SADC Council of Ministers met today in Harare, the Capital City of Zimbabwe. Amongst others, the Council meeting cleared the agenda of the Extraordinary meeting of the SADC  of the Heads of State and Government that will be taking place here on 29th April 2015 to discuss the SADC Industrialisation Strategy as decided by the 34th Ordinary Summit held in Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe.

The meeting started by paying its respects to African liberation icon, Brigadier General Hashim Mbita who passed away in his home country the United Republic of Tanzania.

The meeting was officially opened by Hon. Simbarashe S. Mumbengegwi, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Zimbabwe and Chairperson of the SADC Council of Minister.

It was also addressed by SADC Executive Secretary, Dr. Stergomena Lawrence Tax.

All the SADC Member States were represented at the Council meeting. It was also attended by representatives of the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa and by experts who worked with the SADC Secretariat on the SAC Industrialisation Strategy and Roadmap.
