The EU under the 11th European Development Fund (EDF) is supporting the Tripartite (consisting of SADC, EAC and COMESA but also including IGAD and IOC) on ICT and Transport (Air) Sectors through the following programmes, namely:
- Enhancement of Governance and Enabling Environment in the ICT Sector (EGEE-ICT) in the Eastern Africa, Southern Africa and the Indian Ocean region (EA-SA-IO) Region; and
- Support to the Air Transport Sector Development (SATSD) in the EA-SA-IO Region.
COMESA is the Lead Regional Economic Community (REC) but other RECs including SADC are also fully participating in these programmes.
