As part of his mandate, as the Chairperson of the Military Health Service Working Group of the Inter-State Defence and Security Committee (ISDSC), Lieutenant General (Dr.) Aires Africano visited the Secretariat on 24 March 2015.
The main objective of his visit was to consult with the Secretariat officials on the implementation of the decisions of Defence Sub Committee and the Ministerial Committee of the Organ on Politics, Defence and Security Cooperation.
Lt. Gen. Aires Africano who is the Head of the Medical Services in the Angolan Armed Forces amongst others informed the Director of the Organ, on the training which the MHS WG had undertaken on the emergence preparedness against the Ebola epidemic.
He further discussed with the Director of the Organ, Jorge C. Cardoso, the planned activities of the MHS WG during their chairmanship.
Lt. Gen. Africano will also consult with his counterpart in Botswana Defence Force on the way forward, since the Republic of Botswana will succeed the Republic of Angola as the next chair of the Military Health Service Working Group
