Training of Trainers Course on Customs Valuation (17-21 August 2015)

The fifth training course on 'Customs Valuation' is being held at Jameson Hotel, Harare, Zimbabwe from 17-21 August 2015. This course forms part of the SADC Training of Trainers Programme 2013-2015 approved by the Sub Committee on Customs Cooperation in May 2013.

The main objective of the programme is to provide technical and professional support to the implementation of the SADC Protocol on Trade, particularly in view of the contribution of Customs Administrations to the successful implementation and consolidation of the SADC FTA. Under Article 4 of Annex II of the SADC Protocol on Trade, Member States undertake to adopt a system of valuing goods for Customs purposes based on principles of transparency, equity, uniformity and simplification of application in accordance with the WTO Valuation System. The training is therefore meant to support implementation of agreed instruments and programmes under the SADC Protocol on Trade.

Four training courses that have already been covered under this programme are 'Communication and Facilitation Skills', SADC Rules of Origin, Risk Management and Tariff and Non-Tariff Barriers.

The training course is being conducted in collaboration with the World Customs Organization, Zimbabwe Revenue Authority Regional Training Centre and GIZ.
