SECOND GROUP OF THE SOUTHERN AFRICAN DEVELOPMENT COMMUNITY MISSION IN MOZAMBIQUE (SAMIM) FORCE MEMBERS WTHDRAWING FROM CABO DELGADO

The SADC Mission in the Republic of Mozabique (SAMIM)`s Republic of South Africa Contingent members are the second group to withdraw from SAMIM in Capo Delgado. On Sunday April 07, 2024 SAMIM hosted a farewell parade to honour and commend the members who took part in the mission.

The farewell parade was adorned by the presence of SAMIM Acting Head of Mission Mr J. Shikongo Shikongo, SAMIM Force Commander Maj Gen P.N. Dube, Forcas Armadas de Defesa de Mocambique (FADM) Rear Admiral Muatuca and FADM representative Brig Gen T.E. Paumbile, Senior Mission Leadership and SAMIM mission Headquarters staff, SAMIM Force Headquarters members, and other contingents’ troops.

During his keynote speech, Maj Gen. Dube expressed gratitude to the SAMIM RSA Contingent members, for their outstanding professionalism and courage in serving in the mission with dedication. He wished the RSA group a safe return home. The Force Commander emphasised that SAMIM is appreciative of the South African National Defence Force's (SANDF) contribution.

SAMIM Acting Head of Mission delivered his farewell message and said “I stand before you today with a sense of honour as SAMIM is bidding farewell to you at the end of a distinguished tour of duty in the Mission, you have exemplified dedication, professionalism, and courage throughout our deployment in support of the security forces of the Republic of Mozambique”.
