SADC Standby Force conduct Exercise NGUIZANI to strengthen Logistics for planning and conducting integrated mission support

The Southern African Development Community Standby Force (SADC SF) is scheduled to conduct Exercise NGUIZANI in Luanda, Republic of Angola from 25 September to 6 October 2023. 

The aim of Exercise NGUIZANI is to strengthen the Logistics Elements of the SADC SF on the Planning and Conduct of Integrated Mission Support to Peace Support Operations with the overall objectives been;

a.       To exercise the planning and Execution of a logistics Exercise at SADC level;

b.       To practice Participants on Reception, Staging, Onward Movement and Integration (RSOI) across land, maritime and air domains. 

c.       Harmonize the logistics concepts of planning and execution of the Mission Integrated Logistics Support; 

d.       To practice and test the planning and employment of SADC SF strategic lift capability;

e.       Validate Interoperability in the integrated planning of the Mission Logistics support;

f.        To plan for effective and efficient logistical support to SADC operations by reducing the logistics footprint.

g.       To validate the logistics support capability for the SADC SF

h.       Train the planning and execution of De-Mobilization from the Mission.

Exercise NGUIZANI is a logistics exercise and will focus on training the participants at tactical level on logistics support to Intervention Operations. The SADC Members States will contribute participants under the Military, Police, Correctional Services and Civilian components. 

The exercise was sanctioned by the 27th SADC Defence Sub-Committee to allow the Standby Force to test its logistic support capability and have a common ground as far as Logistic support to fielded forces is concerned. It is held under the theme “Africa for Peace and Prosperity (A4P2)”.
