The SADC CLIMSA Programme set to convene Focus Country event in Angola

The Southern African Development Community (SADC) Secretariat through its Climate Services Centre (CSC), in collaboration with the Instituto Nacional de Meteorología e Geofísica (INAMET) Angola will convene the SADC ClimSA Focus Country event in Angola from 8th to 13th May 2023.

The objectives of the event are to conduct the first climate services stakeholder workshop for the Focus Country and set up communication channels and engagement processes with national stakeholders; to raise awareness of and commence the technical implementation of Focus Country activities under the SADC ClimSA programme, on which to build further national engagements. The event will further deliver data sharing capacity-building for the SADC Member States National and Meteorological and Hydrological Services in collaboration with the World Meteorological Organisation (WMO).

The goal of the SADC ClimSA Programme is to contribute to the efforts of SADC Member States countries to adapt to climate change and climate variability by providing science-based climate prediction and information services into national and regional planning processes. It aims to strengthen the climate services value-chain through building the capacities of decision-makers at all levels to make effective use of climate information and services. The programme is funded by the European Union (EU).
