The SADC Secretariat led by theExecutive SecretaryDr. Stergomena Lawrence Tax visited the Kingdom of Swaziland on 12th and 13th October 2016 and met the Chairperson of the SADC Council of Ministers His Royal Highness Prince Hlangusemphi, Minister of Economic Planning and Development of the Kingdom of Swaziland and Chairperson of the SADC Council of Ministers, in preparation for the Extra-Ordinary SADC Summit of Heads of State and Government and the Ordinary SADC Council of Ministers scheduled to take place in March 2016. The two Parties discussed the dates, agenda and logistics of the Summit with a view to ensure a productive and smooth Summit. The Summit will be preceded by the Ordinary SADC Council of Ministers.
The SADC Executive Secretary also paid a courtesy call on the Chairperson of SADC, His Majesty King Mswati III to among other things explain about His Majesty’s visit to the SADC Secretariat. She also briefed him on the socio-economic, political and security situation in the region.
The SADC Executive Secretary was among others accompanied by the Ms Bester Nćube, Head, Conference Services and Mrs Jocelyne Lukundula, Head, Public Relations.
