Lesotho Prime Minister Sworn in

Right Honourable Pakalitha Mosisili was sworn in on Tuesday, 17th March, 2015 as Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Lesotho. This follows the general elections held on 28th February, 2015 leading to the formation of a coalition between the Democratic Congress and six other parties.

After being sworn in, Right Honourable Pakalitha Mosisili pledged to unite the Kingdom and steer the country to prosperity.

"I accept this responsibility fully aware of the grave challenges that continue to face our country. We will successfully steer our country out of the political insecurities towards peace, harmony and prosperity," he promised.

The swearing-in ceremony was attended by thousands of Basotho at the Setsoto Stadium in Maseru. Those attending the ceremony included, among others,  President Zuma of South Africa; Vice President Mokweetsi Eric Keabetswe Masisi of Botswana; Vice President Cyril Ramaphosa of South Africa; Prime Minister Hage Geingob of Namibia; Prime Minister Barnabas Sibusiso Dlamini of Swaziland; Dr. Stergomena Lawrence Tax, SADC Executive Secretary; and Foreign Affairs Ministers and Government representatives from SADC Member States.
