Cuban Deputy Foreign Minister Pays a Courtesy Call on the SADC Executive Secretary

BOTSWANA, 23 June, 2015. Cuban Deputy Foreign Minister, H.E. Rogelio Sierra Diaz, accompanied by the Cuban Ambassador to Botswana, H.E. Juan Carlos Arencibia Corrales, paid a courtesy call on the SADC Executive Secretary, H.E. Stergomena Lawrence Tax. The Minister re-affirmed Cuba’s willingness to strengthen the cooperation with the SADC Secretariat and the 15 SADC Member States.

At this occasion, Minister Diaz urged that the two parties expedite finalization of the Memorandum of Understanding. He further emphasized willingness of Cuba to support SADC at regional and national level in the fight against Malaria. The Minister assured SADC of Cuba’s continued support to the SADC Region and SADC Member States.

The SADC Executive Secretary assured Cuba of SADC’s support and solidarity; and interest in working closely with Cuba. She expressed SADC’s commitment to work with Cuba in finalizing and implementing the Memorandum of Understanding in order to enhance cooperation between SADC and Cuba. Dr. Tax ended by thanking the Deputy Minister for sharing information on new developments and assured him that, SADC is committed to deepen cooperation with the Republic of Cuba, and thanked Cuba for the continued cooperation with SADC as one of its major partners.
