The Commonwealth Special Envoy to the Kingdom of Lesotho, Dr. Rajen Prasad, paid a courtesy call to the SADC Executive Secretary, H.E. Dr. Stergomena Lawrence Tax on March 7, 2016. The two parties discussed matters of mutual interest to the two organisation, particularly those relating to the prevailing situation in the Kingdom of Lesotho. Dr. Tax congratulated Dr. Prasad for his outstanding work as the Commonwealth Special Envoy to the Kingdom of Lesotho and pointed out that SADC valued the work he has been doing in the restoration of political and security normalcy in Lesotho.
Dr. Prasad used the occasion to bid farewell to Dr. Tax and SADC. He thanked SADC for the cooperation accorded to him and to the Commonwealth Secretariat. He assured the Executive Secretary that the Commonwealth will continue to support SADC efforts in the Kingdom of Lesotho also assist the Kingdom of Lesotho in undertaking the constitutional, security and public sector reforms in accordance with the program to be developed by the Kingdom of Lesotho. ''It is my hope that the government of Lesotho will adhere to the recommendations made by the various regional and international stakeholders for the sustainable peace and economic development of the Kingdom of Lesotho", Dr. Prasad stressed.
The Executive Secretary assured Dr. Prasad that SADC will continue to support the Kingdom of Lesotho in the reform processes, and that SADC is confident that the government is willing to implement the recommendations of the Double Troika Summit and the SADC Commission of Inquiry.
Dr. Prasad has served as the Commonwealth Special Envoy to the Kingdom of Lesotho since 2013.
