SADC-JICA Hosting a side event at the XIVth World Forestry Congress

Host Country: South Africa

Location: International Convention Centre in Durban

The SADC Secretariat and the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) will be holding a side event on 07 September 2015 at the 14th World Forestry Congress in South Africa that will be held during 7-12 September 2015 at the International Convention Centre in Durban.

The Congress which is held every six years is, for the first time in history, being hosted by an African country.  It is anticipated that the Congress will bring together the global forestry community with a view to analysing and reviewing key issues as well as sharing ways of addressing these issues.

The SADC-JICA side event is being organised by the SADC Secretariat through the Food Agriculture and Natural Resources Directorate. The SADC Secretariat and JICA side event is titled “Sustainable forest conservation and integration of outputs in SADC countries” and will be held in Hall 2 FH at the convention centre starting at 19.45hrs to 21.00hrs.

Representatives of SADC Member States and other stakeholders are being invited to attend this side event. The side event will include four speakers from SADC Member States and JICA sharing latest information and challenges about a joint project currently being undertaken. The event will end with a cocktail reception.
