PRESS RELEASE
19 May 2026, Gaborone, Botswana: The Southern African Development Community (SADC) Executive Secretary, His Excellency Mr. Elias M. Magosi, will lead a SADC Secretariat delegation to the 2026 Annual Meetings of the African Development Bank Group, scheduled to take place in Brazzaville from 24 to 30 May 2026. The meetings will be convened under the theme “Mobilizing Africa’s Development Financing at Scale in a Fragmented World.”
These Annual Meetings provide a premier continental platform for high-level dialogue on Africa’s evolving development landscape, including poverty reduction, economic transformation, human capital development, and resilience building. The Meetings will convene Ministers of Finance and Economy, Central Bank Governors, private sector leaders, civil society representatives, academia, parliamentarians, and media practitioners.
The 2026 Meetings are expected to focus on critical issues such as debt and development financing, trade, climate change and sustainability, energy security, and inclusive economic growth. These thematic areas are of strategic importance to the SADC region and are closely aligned with the priorities outlined in the SADC Regional Indicative Strategic Development Plan (RISDP) 2020–2030.
During the Meetings, the SADC delegation will participate in plenary sessions and a series of high-level knowledge seminars organised by the African Development Bank Group. The delegation will also engage in bilateral meetings with senior leadership of the Bank and other international cooperating partners to advance SADC’s regional development agenda, mobilise resources, and strengthen strategic partnerships.
SADC’s participation underscores its continued commitment to deepening regional integration, promoting sustainable economic growth, and enhancing cooperation with continental and global partners in pursuit of shared development objectives.
