During the review period of 2013-2014, the political situation in the region remained relatively stable, despite some political challenges in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC). In December 2013 there was signed a ceasefire agreement between the government and the rebels, leading to deployment of the Intervention Brigade in the Eastern DRC.
