The SADC Secretariat is the principal executive institution of SADC.
As mandated by the SADC Treaty, its responsibilities include the following:
- Strategic planning and management of SADC programmes.
- Monitoring and evaluating implementation of regional policies and programmes.
- Organisation and management of SADC meetings; representation and promotion of SADC.
- Mobilisation of resources, coordination and harmonisation of programmes and projects with cooperating partners.
