These guidelines provide a framework for the determination of equivalence and approximation (harmonization) of the existing Technical Regulations /or Mandatory Requirements in the SADC region with a view to facilitate trade. The ultimate intention is to assist Member States in the development and implementation of Technical Regulations thereby protecting consumers from unsafe products, protecting the environment and animals and facilitating trade.
