Programme Officer - Care and Support for Teaching and Learning and the FutureLife-Now! Programme (Phase II)

MIET AFRICA, in partnership with the SADC Secretariat, seeks to appoint a Programme Officer to take responsibility for the effective implementation of programmes and projects related to the SADC Care and Support for Teaching and Learning initiative, including the FutureLifeNow! Programme, Phase II and related SADC Secretariat education and skills development programmes.

Background

Care and Support for Teaching and Learning (CSTL) is an innovative approach towards strengthening the education sector’s ability to respond to the growing numbers of orphans and vulnerable children and youth in the SADC region, by facilitating the concept of schools as sites of integrated support, where child and youth-friendly services are provided in support of health, gender, migration, food security and related challenges. 

FutureLife-Now! is a programe that contributes to the operationalisation of the SADC approved CSTL Policy Framework and is also  aimed at promoting greater self-confidence and hope for the present and future among young people in the region. A combination of activities that includes strengthened HIV education policies, enhanced Comprehensive Sexuality Education, access to youth-friendly HIV/SRHR services facilitated through schools, targeted programming for boys, and youth-led climate change action will contribute to the programme’s overall goal of reducing new HIV infections and increasing adherence to ART amongst children and youth in the SADC region. MIET AFRICA, SADC’s implementing partner, will support Member States in implementing FutureLife-Now!. The Agreement for the Implementation of Phase II of  FutureLife-Now! Between SADC Secretariat and MIET AFRICA, was signed in August 2023 and it relates to the implementation of activities in the four SADC Member States under Phase I and also Eswatini and South Africa, although the latter 2 countries will be supporting their own initiatives with technical support being provided by MIET Africa.
