This SADC Success Stories publication is aimed at raising awareness of the economic benefits of fisheries and aquaculture in Botswana, Namibia and Malawi. Aquaculture is one of the National Fisheries and Aquaculture Policy priority areas, and offers great potential to create wealth for fish farmers and the region. The decision for developing and aligning National Aquaculture Strategies to the SADC Regional Aquaculture Strategy and Action Plan was made by Ministers responsible for Agriculture and Food Security, Fisheries and Aquaculture.
This highlights the importance accorded by SADC Ministers to this sector, and the timing of these development strategies has come at an opportune time with the SADC region now searching for new economic activities to develop the region.
