SADC MED DATABASE (SMD) APPLICATION LAUNCH

Following the Ministers of Health endorsement of the recommendations of the report of the technical review on the implementation of selected priority actions for the operationalisation of the Southern African Development Community (SADC) Pooled Procurement Services (SPPS) at their meeting held in Luanda, Republic of Angola on 29 November 2023, a SADC Med Database Application will be launched on 14 May 2024 in Dar es Salaam, United Republic of Tanzania. The database is to provide a service on updating, deployment and implementation of the SADC Medicines and Health Commodities Databaseand it is developed through the Support to Industrialisation and Productive Sectors (SIPS) programme. The recommendation to ‘’Develop a secure interface portal” will allow manufacturers and suppliers to input information for market shaping and a database on supplier capacity, capability, and performance’.
