Silencing Guns by 2020 in Africa

An AU High Level Brain storming Meeting under the theme "Silencing Guns by 2020 in Africa: Building a Roadmap to a Conflict-Free Continent" took place in Durban, South Africa. The meeting brought together all major stakeholders, including SADC. The meeting was aimed at finding solutions to conflicts on the continent and resolved to establish a precise agenda and work plan for achieving the vision "to end of all wars in Africa by 2020," as spelled out in the 50th Anniversary Solemn Declaration of 26 May 2013; produce clearly defined recommendations on conflict prevention actions; and agree on shared responsibilities and coordination between organizations working on African conflicts in achieving the 2063 vision.

SADC Executive Secretary H.E Dr. Stergomena Lawrence Tax also attended the AU High Level Braining storming meeting.
