MODEL LAW ON ACCESS TO INFORMATION IN AFRICA INTRODUCED TO SADC

The AU Special Rapporteur on Freedom of Expression and Access to Information in Africa, Advocate Pansy Tlakula today paid a courtesy call on SADC Executive Secretary, H.E Dr. Stergomena Lawrence Tax. Advocate Tlakula is on a mission to raise awareness within the African Union Organs and Member States on the existence of the Model Law and provide technical assistance where requested. Her courtesy call was aimed at discussing possible areas of collaboration in relation to the Model Law.

The Model Law on Access to Information for Africa was launched by the African Commission on Human and Peoples’ Rights last year during the 53rd Ordinary Session of the African Commission in Banjul, the Gambia.
