    SADC Member States met at Birchwood Hotel in Johannesburg, South Africa, from 28 to 30 April 2015. The aim of the meeting was to begin the validation process of the Regional Research on Trafficking in Persons.

    The workshop seeked to:

    • examine the findings obtained thus far from the data collected as part of the regional research;
    • provide additional information to cover the data gaps on trafficking in persons;
    • recommend ways of strengthening the research report;
    • suggest and agree on key recommendations to combat trafficking in persons in the region; and
    • provide guidelines on effectively packaging and disseminating the research findings.

    The workshop which was attended by all SADC Member States, was opened by the Director of the Organ, Mr. Jorge Cardoso. The workshop was funded through the Regional Political Cooperation (RPC) Programme, a programme financed by the European Union.
