In accordance with the country`s Constitution, the Republic of Madagascar will hold Parliamentary Elections. As per the Revised SADC Principles and Guidelines Governing Democratic Elections (2021), it is customary for SADC to deploy a SADC Electoral Observation Mission (SEOM) to monitor general elections within its Member States. The Government of Madagascar have invited the SEOM to observe the elections, demonstrating their commitment to the shared agenda of SADC and regional integration objectives.
The SEOM is a fundamental mechanism of our community, designed for the consolidation of democracy, which is defined by regular, credible, free, fair, peaceful and transparent electoral processes. Accordingly, the SEOM is implementing the SADC Principles and Guidelines Governing Democratic Elections to observe these elections.
