DRC Peace and Security Framework Signed
A Peace and Security Cooperation Framework for the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) and the Region that accommodates the concerns of all stakeholders towards the restoration of peace in the eastern part of the is now in place. It was signed on February 24, 2013 by the DRC, its neighbours in the Economic Community of the Great Lakes Countries (CEPGL), the Southern African Development Community (SADC) with the United Nations and the African Union as its guarantors.

SADC Ministers Condemn Violence Against Women and Girls
SADC Ministers responsible for Gender and Women’s Affairs meeting in Maputo, Mozambique on February 14, 2013 condemned the ongoing sexual violence against women, specifically rape, which tends to be used as a weapon of war during armed and post conflict, especially in the Eastern part of the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC).
