The SADC Secretariat would like to announce that Ministers responsible for Agriculture and Food Security will be meeting on 5th February, 2010 in Kinshasa, Democratic Republic of Congo. The Minister’s Meeting will be preceded by a meeting of Senior Officials from 2nd to 3rd February, 2010.

The main objectives of the Meeting are:

• To review the regional food security situation;
• To consider the establishment of a new Sub-Regional Organisation for Agricultural Research and Development; and
• To consider, approve and sign the Memorandum of Understanding on the SADC Harmonised Seed Regulatory System.

The meeting will be chaired by The Honourable Norbert Basengezi Katintima, Minister of Agriculture of the Democratic Republic of Congo.
