Training
The training component of PRINT Livestock Project is aimed at equipping key staff from Member States (MS) with standardized working skills and tools in the livestock sector. Training is thus, designed to lead to a network of skilled professionals, speaking the same language, maintaining regular contacts and sharing information. This is in realization of the existence of technology gaps between SADC MS in the livestock sector in general and in particular with respect to livestock information management systems.
The development of a SADC Livestock Information Management System constitutes a central pillar of PRINT. LIMS will comprise a regional database in the relevant fields of animal health, animal production, and livestock and livestock products trade and marketing. Thus, training courses will be conducted in these fields in support of LIMS. Training will be organized at national and regional levels under grant and service contracts on the basis of the outcome of a training needs assessment.
In recognition of the existence of Centres of Excellence within the SADC region, training will be to an extent possible, contracted to these centres on the basis of their respective areas of expertise and readiness to develop tailor made training modules and their cost-effectiveness.
