1. Overall Objective - Poverty reduction through increased productivity & trade flows in the traditional livestock sector in SADC
2. Purpose - Lay down a sustainable basis for a coherent regional approach to the development of the livestock sector in the SADC region.
3. Key Stakeholders -
- SADC Secretariat (Livestock Unit, FANR)
- Livestock sector in 15 SADC Member States, mainly Ministries in charge of livestock & Public & private livestock operators
- Centres of Excellence (universities, institutions, agencies, etc.)
- Other public& Private institutions working directly or indirectly in the livestock sector

- Reliable standardized essential and targeted Animal Production and Health (APH) – towards a SADC
- Livestock Information Management System (LIMS) that is publicly available in Member States - INFORMATION
- Viable and operational network of APH professionals (public and private sectors) established in the SADC region – TRAINING
- National and regional studies/projects in support of APH appraised in Member States – STUDIES
- Sound policies and strategies for the livestock sector within SADC developed in a participatory manner - POLICIES
