Harmonisation
At their meeting on 7 October 2011 in Centurion, South Africa, Ministers considered and adopted the SADC Model Civil Aviation Act and the SADC Generic Regulations and Procedures for use by Member States as a basis for harmonisation of primary legislation in SADC and recommended them for legal clearance by the Committee of Ministers of Justice/Attorneys General.
Institutionalisation
At their meeting on 7 October 2011 in Centurion, South Africa, Ministers considered and recommended to the SADC Council of Ministers approval of the Draft Charter establishing the SADC Aviation Safety Organization (SASO).
The provisions of the draft Charter cover, among other things, objectives of the SASO; functions of the SASO; SASO organisational structure; its governing body and sources of SASO funding.
