The Southern African Development Community (SADC) Secretariat has received financing from the African Development Bank toward the cost of the Support to the Control of Communicable Diseases Project and intends to apply part of the agreed amount for this grant to payments under the contract for Capacity Building for the Domestication of Harmonized Policies and Regional Minimum Standards for Communicable Diseases. Areas to be covered under this training are HIV/AIDS (Testing, Counseling, & PMTCT), Sexually Transmitted Infections, Malaria, Tuberculosis (including drug resistant TB) and Surveillance of communicable diseases).
The services included under this project are:
- To create common understanding of the approved regional policies and frameworks among health personnel;
- To create a pool of trainers with practical training skills to roll-out the training at National level; and
- To support national capacity building activities in line with the regional agreed policies.
SADC Secretariat now invites eligible training institutions in SADC to indicate their interest in providing these services. Interested training institutions must provide information indicating that they are qualified to perform the services (brochures, description of similar assignments, experience in similar conditions, availability of appropriate skills among staff, etc.). Training institutions may constitute joint-ventures to enhance their chances of qualification.
Eligibility criteria, establishment of the short-list and the selection procedure shall be in accordance with the African Development Bank's "Rules and Procedures for the use of Consultants" May 2008, which is available on the Bank's website at http://www.afdb.org. SADC Secretariat is under no obligation to shortlist any consultant who expresses interest.
Interested training institutions may obtain further information at the address below during office hours 08.00 to 12.30 and 14.00 to 16.30 hours local time, Mondays to Fridays excluding Public Holidays.
Expressions of interest must be delivered to the address below by 25th January 2012 at 10H00, Botswana Time (GMT+2) and mention "Capacity Building for the Domestication of Harmonized Policies and Regional Minimum Standards for Communicable Diseases".
